On the Bright Side...

So if you haven't noticed, I've been MIA for quite a while now... Basically I was in a creative slump. After starting another year as a commuter student, I realized that I very easily fall into a habit of becoming depressed and anti-social. I could spent an entire day saying nothing more than "excuse me" (when grabbing a seat in class), "sorry" (when I accidently bump into someone), "thank you" (when someone opens the door for me) ... that's about it. Especially when going to a gignormous school like UCI with thousands of other students, in classrooms of 300-400 other students... It's VERY easy to close myself off from everyone else... It's been about 6 weeks since school started and I don't like where my anti-social/depressed is taking me... Hopefully, now that I am more aware of it, I could prevent it from getting any worse...

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE! Steppie is having a GIVEAWAY on her facebook fan page! Go check it out @ http://bit.ly/steppiexo ... Also make sure to visit her Etsy shop @ http://steppie.etsy.com
I first heard of her at my school's vendor fair last year (that's when I first heard of oh, hello friend too!) She has the CUTEST products! I'm currently in LOVE with her Nerdy Panda line :D Anyways, go check out her stuff!

Hopefully I'll be back to blog about some of my own new products, SOON!

Fall Quarter Begins...

I realized it's been a while since I've last updated so here's an update :D

I've been quite busy the last week... mainly because I'm finally back in school! I was really hoping to make a bunch of crafty stuff before school started but I guess I procrastinated too much. Well now that I'm in school, I'll have plenty of time to doodle :)

Ever since the floorsale last month, I've been trying to re-think my 'line' ... I have too many ideas that are incohesive.. So I've been spending a lot of time brainstorming and trying to 'build my brand' better... Hopefully I'll come up with something before December!

Here are some of my ideas so far... and yes, they aren't cohesive.... go figure...
1. Characters! - I really enjoyed making the Wonder Girls pouches and so I'm thinking of making my own group of girls... So far, I've gathered about 5-6 girl image ideas inspired by some K-Pop girl group members BUT they keep turning out like the Harajuku Lovers girls!~~~ I need to spend more time making them more original I guess... I might even resort to making animal characters..that's just a little bit more difficult...
2. Ticket Journal - I love ticket journals.. I have one myself and have given many away as gifts so I thought, why not just design my own ticket journal... and they possibly might be more marketable during the gift-giving season of December :) Unfortunately I haven't started on the design yet...
3. 2010 Calendar - As someone who loves to plan, I LOVE calendars... so I thought it would be a good gift idea to make my own calendars... but that also requires designing... which I haven't gotten around to doing yet... I have brainstormed a bit though :)

OOOH I forgot to mention that I had my first Etsy sale last week! :D Congrats to me!
Well, unfortunately I've got a LOT of reading to do for my classes so I gotta bounce... maybe next time I'll have some doodles to post up :D

One Week Left

So summer seems to hav just flown on by... I now have exactly one week until school starts again. I'm actually quite excited for school to start. Although I loved the spontaneity of this past summer, I love schedules. I love knowing exactly what I'm going to be doing in the next hour/day...
Every summer is filled with new experiences... Last summer was when I first got seriously 'into' scrapbooking and blogging. I spent most days at all the local crafty shops, seeking out treasures... Eventually by the end of summer, I was stocked up on just about every basic scrapbooking tool. I also spent about a whole month being a 'camp counselor' for my church's junior high and high school summer retreats.
This year was quite different from the last. Let's see... I rejoined the English Ministry praise team at my church, met the Wonder Girls and JYP!, made new friends, re-started my blog, had my first handmade goods sale, opened up my Etsy shop, had bible study (almost weekly) with my SoonWon, and just spent a LOT of time by myself at home... Oh, just remembered! I even saw a calf being born! Yay for living by cow farms!

In the one week that is left before the busy-ness of school comes around, I'm trying to brainstorm more ideas for my next sale in December. I'm strangely having trouble thinking of stuff to draw, which I think is weird bc that never happens. Oh well, time to hit the shower, maybe I'll come out of it with some more ideas.

Ooh random note... When summer started I planned on sending in audition applications to Korea but, I don't know, I'm having 2nd thoughts again... It's so hard to pick the perfect song!
Oh and another random note... My pastor suggested that I document all of the children's praise/body worship songs by recording myself!~ I think it's a good idea... Just a little bit awkward though, singing and dancing in front of a camera all by myself :/ I'll get around to doing it... eventually

Etsy Shop

MY ETSY SHOP IS FINALLY OPEN!!!!!
Last night (September 10th) I set up and opened my etsy shop for the first time EVER! Yippeee~~~~ I'm so excited! I may never sell a single item but I'm still happy :D

After doing my chores for the day, I decided to photograph my rings while the natural lighting in the house was being my friend... Then I figured I start my etsy shop! :D It just makes me happy looking at it! hahahaha
Well, I gotta bounce I have a LOT to do tomorrow...

My First Sale!

My dear friend, Sarah of Little Seed, invited me to join her at the Koreatown Galleria Floorsale on August 29th. I didn't really know what to expect so I just prepared a variety of 'products' to sell. Not really expecting much, I went on to join and sell my handmade goodies...

The day of the sale was quite... interesting... Sora came over to my house that morning to drive out to LA together. One the way there, I got lost... I don't know how in the world I got lost going to Koreatown (since I've personally driven there, on my own,at LEAST 50 times by now) but I got lost. Then, we got into a car accident and eventually we got to the Galleria an hour late. Sora and I shared a table and we sold our individual stuff as well as my mom's church small group's handmade sponges. We sold a lot more than we expected, met a lot of kids, ran into some old friends, and just had a good time. Originally we were only going to stay till 3pm but we ended up staying until 6:30pm because Jennifer was holding mini ceramics classes with some kids.

Suprisingly I SOLD OUT on my button hairclips! I was so excited :) I got a shot of one of a girl wearing my hairclips, playing by the water fountain :D

We were invited to come back for the floorsale in December! So for the last couple weeks I've been brainstorming new ideas for products. First! I'm trying to remake all of the hairclips I made before!

JYP & Wonder Girls Project & Meet & Greet

So I was chosen to be able to 'meet and greet' the Wonder Girls and to be a part of their exclusive promo team at the Jonas Brothers concerts (which they were opening for). Initially, I just made pouches for each of the members and also for their producer, JYP, who is also a singer (whom i am a HUGE fan of), who is currently following them on the tour...

When I tried to think of ways to package the gift, I couldn't think of a good way to package a pouch so I decided to fill them... I went to Michaels and found cute travel themed mini notebooks (a perfect fit for the members' pouches) and a travel journal (an exact fit for JYP's pouch)
Then I made each of the WG members a personalized card and wrote notes and word of encouragement all throughout JYP's travel journal :)

The day of the meet and greet, I got a text telling me to meet at the Verison Wireless bus. Unfortunately, it took me forever to find it. Anyways, while waiting to meet their manager-ish person to take us to meet the Wonder Girls, I made some new friends with fellow FAN*TASTICS (Wonder Girls fans)... Then we got a text telling us to meet at the main entrance... there were about 10 of us at the time but when we go to the entrance there were another 10 fans waiting! Eventually, Hana (their manager-ish person) came out and gave us all 'Meet & Greet' wristbands and we all filed in line and headed toward the backstage area... After a lot of waiting, we eventually got to the backstage area where we were told to wait behind these fence-like things...

It was right then that we saw Jordin Sparks leaving from her meet & greet :)
Then as she left, the Wonder Girls came walking in... JYP walking in with them...
Unfortunately, the Staples Center employees were REALLY strict and informed us that we were only allowed to take group pictures with the girls and leave. All of us were so disappointed... Luckily as I went to go to take a picture with them I was just going to hand their gifts to their manager or something but SunYe and Yenny insisted that I pass them out... So I gave each of them their gifts, took a picture with them, and went around and got hugs from each of the members. They were really sweet~ I wish we were given more time to 'hang out' with them, like some of the other cities.

ANYWAYS, after my super short 'meet & greet' with the Wonder Girls, I went around to see JYP, who was already surrounded by the FAN*TASTICS, getting picture and autographs... I waited my turn (actually I kinda cut... *sorry*) and gave my gift to JYP and got my picture taken with him. And as I was asking him to autograph his CD for me (I came prepared lol) He took out his iPhone and asked someone to take the picture of us... But each time she took the picture it came out blurry so then Jeremiah (another fan, a new friend) took the picture, then JYP wanted a close up too so, seriously it took forever to get the picture taken... then he signed my CD for me and ALL of us where swept out of the backstage area... I felt REALLY bad because a lot of them, especially Jeremiah, wasn't able to get an autograph or picture with JYP because I took too long :(

Afterwards, we all gathered together, got our giant stacks of postcard flyers and spread out around the Staples Center and spent the next couple hours passing them out to anyone who stepped out of the Staples Center. It was a bit scary being so outnumbered... let's just say there were thousands of Jonas Brothers fans and about 20 Wonder Girls fans... Some people were nice and said that they liked the Wonder Girls performance and that they thought they were cute... others were extremely rude, shoving the flyers back in our face... Eventually me and my partner, Jeremiah, ran out of flyers so we headed back to 'base' where to met with the left over FAN*TASTICS... we spent about another hour just hanging out and talking about school, k-pop, random stuff... Eventually it ended up just being Me, Jeremiah, Jennifer (allkpop), Alan (allkpop idol winner), Kris (fellow anteater), and Jason.. we were going to look for somewhere to eat out but it was already passed midnight and most of us were going to come back to LA the next day for the autograph signing so we just split up.

So although the 'Meet and Greet' was a bit disappointing... I made new friends AND on my way home that night Jeremiah texted me, saying that JYP had twittered the picture of us. So as soon as I got home I checked it myself! There it was, a picture of me and him with the gift I made him and little thank you shout out :) Kind of embarassing but really cool at the same time ...

Inspiration...

So I got back from my vacation on Sunday :)
I would post up pictures but pictures fail to capture the monuments... so they disappoint me so I won't be posting any...

Anyways... I started drawing again :) Because I've been inspired... more like influenced... by a YouTube artist named Mark Crilley.. He has a bunch of 'how to' videos on his channel.. here's my favorite one.

Such simple yet cute drawings :) I'm trying to copy all of them... Although I'm not a fan of copying other people's drawings, I want to do that just to get some experience drawing in that style... anyways... ENJOY!

Off to Monument Valley

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a trip to Monument Valley with my parents... I've never been there before so I don't really know what to expect... All I know is that it's near the point where Arizona, Utah, Colorado & New Mexico meet... Should be fun :) I'll be back on Sunday possibly Monday... Don't know if I'll be able to make any updates while I'm there so... UNTIL THEN!

Allegiance: a new musical

Yesterday, I went to a staged reading of Allegiance with Tursh and Sora. It featured not only Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) & George Takei (Star Trek, Heroes), but also Enrico Rodriguez, Mike Hagiwara,Tamlyn Tomita, Jose Llana, James Synder, and the stars of East West Players' production of The Last Five Years: Michael Lee & Jennifer Paz. Although they performed less than half of all the scenes, I felt so attached to each of the characters in the story. They said that this work would return to Los Angeles after it is further developed, and I CAN'T WAIT!
Allegiance tells the story of a Japanese American family during the Japanese internment during WWII... It revealed a lot about the internment that I didn't know before... and probably never would have known if I hadn't watched this musical.

Anyways, I'm back at home again and my next project is to make an apron. I've never made anything larger than my usual pouches before so it'll be a new experience! Oh and sorry I STILL haven't posted up a picture of the completed Wonder Girls pouches yet...

... dance

I haven't posted in several days because I've been indulging myself in DANCE! Well I haven't been dancing physically but I have been watching dance videos ALL DAY for the past few days!

Couple nights ago I watched the most recent episode of So You Think You Can Dance (Season 5) and I completely fell in love with the contemporary routine choreographed by Mia Michaels performed by Kayla & Kupono...

I literally froze when watching this... Simply amazing!~

So I ended up spending the rest of my time watching past episodes...
Anyways, I started gaining interest in So You Think You Can Dance after watching the Season 4 performance by Mark & Chelsie of Lyrical Hip-Hop choreographed by Tabitha & Napoleon.

Anyways, I'll probably spending my next few days watching all the episodes I missed! :)

OH and in case you were wondering, I DID finish my Wonder Girls project, I'll post up pictures some other time...

WG Project continues

Today... sew, sew, sew, tv, spring rolls, blog

So as soon as I woke up today I started sewing. Yesterday I went to Joann's and bought all the fabric for the pouches and spend the day sewing the faces to the fabric and adding the embroidery. Today I started working on sewing Yenny's pouch... and when I was almost done, my sewing machine broke. I had finished the pouch portion but it broke while I was working on the drawstrings... So I had to stop working on the pouches :( Anyways here's a picture from this morning...

BUT, I realized a little while ago that I forgot to sew the earrings!~ It's not too late to add them to the other girls's pouches, but for Yenny's I'll have to sew it on top of the inner lining :(

Anyways, I'm quite satisfied with these pouches so far! I can't wait to finish them. Then I could hurry and film the 30sec video to submit for the Wonder Girls FAN*TASTICS thing so that I could possibly meet them to give these to them... Even if I don't get chosen, and I don't get to meet them, I think I would either keep them just cause they are cute. Or maybe give them as gifts? I don't know. But I can't wait to finish them!

Shopping & WG Project

Today... shopping, shopping, shopping, jello & wg project

Happy Independence Day!~
I started today off by going to a Pottery Barn Outlet with my parents to buy a lamp for my new desk (that my dad made for me) :) Anyways, I ended up also buying a table runner for the top of my dresser for less than $2! After than my mom and I went to Nordstrom's Rack and Kohl's where I bought several clothes and accessories... After dinner I made some jello :) and then at night I finally got to start working on the project that I mentioned in an earlier post....

My Wonder Girls Project!
The Wonder Girls are a five member Korean girl group who are in the process of debuting in America. Currently they are serving as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers. AND they finally released their english version of their hit song 'Nobody'! You can listen to the track by going onto their website (http://www.wondergirlsworld.com/) or by purchasing it on iTunes. Right now their are having a mini 'contest' to be a part of their fan team (FAN*TASTICS) to help them publicize at the Jonas Brothers concerts. Anyways, if you are one of the few that get chosen you get to meet the Wonder Girls and have a photo-op and what not. All you have to do is send them a 30 sec video about how much you love the Wonder Girls... SO, I figured I'd try doing this cause it would be fun! I've already had experience helping JYP Entertainment advertising stuff at their concerts back in March (I helped advertise their world tour auditions)... For my video I decided I'd document me making them a handmade personalized gift... my project is that I'm making a set of 5 pouches each with one of the Wonder Girls on it :) I used felt and embroidery string to make each of their faces today... Now all that's left to do is that I need to buy the fabric for the pouches and I need to do their earrings (...somehow) and mbroider their names.
Here's a picture of my stetches, my felt faces, and my signed Wonder Girls Nobody (Korean version) Album :D

Here's the picture of the Wonder Girls that I chose to copy their style for. For the Wonder Girls 'Nobody' single, their hair, makeup, and attire is all from the 60s and is very influenced by the style of the Supremes...

Hopefully I'll be able to stop by Joann's to buy some fabric tomorrow after church...
WOW it's really late now I got to get to sleep to wake up early for church tomorrow!!!

Blog Stalking

Hello!~

Today... wake up, lunch, bible study, drive home, Michaels, blog, blog, ... blog, etsy!, blog, blog

As I mentioned in the earlier post, I was in Irvine earlier today... Basically I go to Irvine once a week because I meet up with my disciple, Mindy, for bible study once a week :) Anyways we met up and went out to eat chinese food then sat outside near her apartment for bible study. The weather in Irvine was PERFECT! It was sunny but with a nice cool breeze... Unlike here in Corona where it's sunny with a warm/hot breeze -__-... So afterwards I came straight home to avoid traffic but then while I was driving home I got the sudden urge to go to Michaels especially since I had a 40% off coupon. So I went hoping to get a COUPLE fabric quarters for a project that I have in mind. BUT I ended up purchasing a fabric BUNDLE (meaning 5 quarters) and an additional quarter! Which by the way, NONE of them were for the project that I had in mind... Either way, I got some really cute fabric!

After I got home I went online and immediately posted for yesterday and then just started blog surfing... catching up on my blog subscriptions and whatnot. Eventually I ended up spending all my time on a lovely blog called, 'oh, hello friend'... I started following Danni's blog after I had purchased earrings from her at a vendor fair on my school campus...
So here's what happend during my blogging adventure today...

ONE... at 'oh, hello friend' there was a post of $5 sales this weekend. And so I browsed through all the pictures and stopped at one of a pair of earrings (not pictured) from billie's blue boutique. So I went to the etsy shop and WOW all the earrings were on sale for only $3! And there were SOOOO many pretty earrings! Eventually I got myself to narrow it down to 3 pairs and I made my first Etsy purchase! Yay for me! The picture above is of one of the earrings that I bought... Now all I got to do is be more diligent in changing my earrings...

TWO & THREE... there was another post with a gathering of giveaways that were going on this weekend which included the items pictured. 'Two' is from Modish... aren't the mini cherry blossom earrings adorable?! As for the heart necklace, I would SO give that to Tursh or Sora if I won, because they fit their style so well :) 'Three' is from Piggy in the Puddle... it's a mini harmonica pendant! I love the vintage appeal that it gives off :) Anyways, I entered both those giveaways and I suggest that you do too!

FOUR... so to wrap it all up I entered 'oh, hello friend''s weekly giveaway in which polarity is giving away one of their locket sets... to enter you just need to go to polarity's etsy shop and pick a favorite item, then post that as a comment to the giveaway thread... So... the picture is of my favorite from the shop. It's the collaboration with Stephanie Fizer for the Mini Sweet Kokeshi locket set. If I win this giveaway I want to the buy the locket lids for this set!~ They are SO cute! If I don't win, I think I still might go back to the shop and buy it myself :) AND all her lockets are made with recycled materials! Yay for enviro-friendliness!~

Wow... blogging and everything that it leads to is taking over my life! I LOVE IT!
that's enough for now... hopefully I'll be able to start on that project I mentioned earlier tomorrow... (more details on that, once I actually start making some progress on it...)

Icons

Hello!~

So it's a bit late to be posting about yesterday but I went down to Irvine last night and I didn't get back till a couple hours ago... Anyways...

Today... woke up, doodled, stretched, worked out, drove to Irvine, prepared for bible study, slept

So I spent most of my day making the icons for all the blogs that I post on... I'll talk more about that later... Right now I want to share my doodle for the day :) So one of the blogs that I follow is Creature Comforts and everyday they post up an image for their "Inspiration Daily" category... Yesterday's image was one by Linda Berg....

Isn't it pretty... Anyways, so I did my doodle based on the drawing. At first I just did the image in photograph, then I tried building on the picture and finish what might have been the rest of the body. I have a hard time drawing people and so the posture of the girl looks a bit strange... oh well, I tried my best :)

And now time for the icons... Here are all the blogs that I post on and a little description of each :) The images in each of the icons are "old" except for the "Mr Blog to Miss Blog" image... Those I drew yesterday :)

LOVE = MUSIC = LIFE

My first personal blog... Although I did 'reset' it, this is where all my blogging activity started :) At first I used it just to blab on about my crafting experience but this time, I'm making it a bit more personal AND I'm doing my best to post consistently... Especially during this summer since I really have nothing better to do anyways :)

MR BLOG to MISS BLOG

Here I post up a blog prompt daily and also write my response for each :)
The original prompt is from a Korean search engine and blog site called Naver. So I translate the prompts to English to share and to practice my Korean-to-English translating skills :)

GREEN PEAS CREATIONS

Here's the blog I share with my two roommates Tursh and Sora!~ It's been a while since we started it but we only have our mini introductions up so far. Tursh is into Theater so most of her artwork is of costumes and sets while Sora on the other hand is into Studio Art and Anime so her artwork will probably be more on the formal side. And me, I'm just a crafter so it's pretty much all of my stuff is just out in the open :) Hopefully we will pick things up on that blog soon, since it's summer!

Anyways that all for now! I'll probably be posting again in a couple hours to post about today!~

Till then!,
Chloe

doodles...

TODAY...doodle day

I spent most of my day doodling... I took out some of my old Nordstrom's catalogues and cut out whichever pictures that I liked... Whether it was because of the color combination or for the most obvious reason, the outfit, I cut them out... Of those, I started by doodling 4 of those pictures...

close-up of the mini doodles of each outfit :)

that was a lot of fun..
I also started a new daily prompt blog called 'mr blog to miss blog'
go check it out :)

Anyways have an awesome day!~

Cleaning and YouTube

Hello!~

So my OFFICIAL summer started on Monday and it is now the night of day 2 (welll 1:30AM of day 3...)... Anyways to log the stuff I did...

TODAY...stretched, danced, played piano, sang, and slept.

I meant to do a LOT more during the day but for some reason, around 1 in the afternoon, I started falling a asleep! So I slept from 1pm til 5pm! Then my brother came home and bought me dinner for the first time in a LONG time :) We actually got to spend sometime catching up with eachother during the drive there and back, which was nice :) My brother and I spending time together or let alone talking to eachother for more then 30 seconds rarely ever happens. So, him offering to buy me dinner and what not is REALLY special! :) Anyways, after that all I did was watch the re-run of the American Idol Michael Jackson episode and 'reset' my blog...

DAY 2: cleaned, reorganized, cleaned, slept, and watched youtube

So I moved back home from my apartment after my finals in the middle of June but I still haven't finished unpacking and cleaning my room. My dad built me a desk and is in the process of building me a book case so, although I spent most of the last few weeks unpacking and cleaning, I'm still not done...

Anyways, to talk about something other than my boring days filled with cleaning... I have started watching a new Korean drama... It's called "결혼 못하는 남자" or "The Man Who Can't Get Married"...

It's about a forty year old man and woman who are both single and both have families that want them to hurry up and get hitched. The only difference is that the woman wants to get married but has yet to find her match, while the guy claims that he doesn't want to get married... Then the supporting cast has a girl and guy who are both in their mid twenties who somehow know the other people in the show... ANYWAYS it's pretty fun, it's got a group of interesting characters. The actors all portray their respective roles well too :)

I particularly like actress So-Eun Kim, who played Ga-Eul in the popular Korean drama, Boys Over Flowers... She the main reason why I decided to check this drama out... :)

Well I should stop babbling... hopefully I'll start creating some stuff tomorrow!

New Start

Hello!

So I've decided to start over on this whole blogging thing.
My past blog has been... well... unsatisfactory...
I've deleted all previous blog posts and this is my first post since the delete!

Let's begin with an introduction, shall we?
My name is Chloe :) I'm a full-time student at the University of California, Irvine studying Business Economics and Management. I'm basically a person with too many hobbies!
I love to sing and dance, I also enjoy crafting (which is what my previous blogging was mostly based on)...

This blog... I'm going to start off just as a place for me to blog about this summer. Long story short, I was suppose to be taking summer school ALL summer but instead I will be doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I have all the time in the world to do whatever I want (as long as it doesn't cost me too much money...) I've thought long and hard about what to do this summer and I've come to the conclusion that I am going to do all the things that make me happy that I can't manage to find the time to do during the school year. So far the things I plan to do include: singing a LOT (especially since I'll be home alone most of the day), choreographing a dance, crafting (designing, plushies, cards, painting), updating my youtube channel with more videos, working on my piano and guitar skills, and lastly, getting in better physical shape...
Anyways, that's all for now...
